Easy Spring Flower Project for Kids

Supplies Needed:

Sturdy piece of carboard Scissors for cutting cardboard Clear wide tape Marker or Crayons Flowers Safety scissors for cutting flowers

Preparing the Frame

1. Have parent cut frame to desired size. We found an 8×10 worked well for little hands to hold.
2. Apply tape to the back side with sticky side facing the front opening.
3. A picture frame with the glass removed would work as well if you have no cardboard.

Get Outside and Venture

Your little one can add flowers as you go or gather them to add when the walk is done. I did notice finding flowers that are lighter in weight stuck to the tape much better. We chose to pick different sizes as well as colors to add to our vase. We also added a small amount of greenery for a more natural look. We made sure not to cut more flowers than were needed and chose mature flowers instead of budding ones. We were careful when using the safety scissors and made sure to handle them properly.

I used the opportunity to practice color, shapes, and counting skills as well as exercise by taking a longer walk in many areas. If your little one likes bugs, add that to the search to see who can find the most or the biggest one. We played “I Spy with My Little Eye” and he loved it! This can be done with pipe cleaners and buttons, yarn and craft puffs, painted macaroni noodles, paper flowers, whatever their imagination creates.

As expected, the flowers don’t last long. Let them put their vase in a special spot, take pictures, and remind them how talented they are. To re-use the frame, heat the tape slightly with a hair dryer and remove. Add new tape and enjoy a new fabulous adventure. Please feel free to post your littles creations in the comment section. We would Love to see their incredible talent!
